Weeping Icon
Since their 2017 debut, New York’s Weeping Icon have cut their teeth creating their own signature blend of no-wave, post-punk, kraut, and doom-laden noise rock. Comprised of Lani Combier-Kapel, Sara Fantry, Sarah Reinold and Heather Elle, the four long time friends have maintained a particular NYC homegrown DIY and feminist ethos throughout their career, using lyrics, performances and instrument selections as opportunities to critique the power dynamics that dictate the status quo. Their sharp assessments of culture, deep intuitive bonds and unflinching raw power unleashed in their live performances have made them a go-to band to play with like-minded luminaries, including Downtown Boys, Protomartyr, Pissed Jeans, Bush Tetras, and Lydia Lunch. Lani and Sara sing about impending doom, burnout, and the depletion of resources, while the instrumentation creates lush layers of intense textures and walls of feedback to beat against our modern day hellscape - a fierce final plea against the inevitable consumerist collapse of society.
NRG
NRG is the Philadelphia-based solo outing of veteran songwriter Nick R.G. NRG’s newest release is an EP titled “A New Career” released on Discontinuous Innovation Inc. at the end of 2024. The EP features atmospheric synths, post-punk vocals, and instrumentals inspired by neo-psychedelic bands of the late 80's and 90's, all performed and recorded by R.G. with drum tracking handled by Gabe Borges of Wasteman. The EP was featured in Bandcamp Daily, with Sims Hardin writing, “this collection of songs offers a grab bag of artful noise, jangly Sonic Youth-esque moments, and terse Wipers-y punk songs. G’s vocals rove from somber spoken poetics to twangy sing-songy vocals sounding somewhere between Dwight Twiley and Mark E Smith.”

Since the release of their first LP, all of the band’s music has been told in the form of a sci-fi space opera. Shadow Monster celebrate their album release at The Broadway with support from The Big Easy, Palamino and Genuine Connection

Shadow Monster
Shadow Monster is frontwoman and guitarist Gillian Visco’s alter ego and title of her dejected grunge pop project with longtime drummer and collaborator John Swanson. Visco screams and sighs into the abyss of grief in hopes of transforming that pain into bliss through catchy choruses and heartbreakingly relatable lyrics about the immense weight of being human on planet earth. In live shows, Nikki Sisti (THICK) and Denim Casimir (TVOD) round out the trio with booming, fuzzy basslines adding to the vibrant wall of sound best enjoyed with your local dive bar’s beer and shot combo.
The Big Easy
“I want you to HEAR the room... to be SURROUNDED by the song.” So enthuses Stephen Berthomieux of his latest recordings under the moniker The Big Easy. These ten new songs, which will arrive on the new album (It’s No Secret) The Truth As Bad As The View, are living and breathing documents. Deceptively complex and strikingly immediate snapshots of someone coming to terms with their mistakes, facing up to the future, and finally learning to be comfortable.‘Space’ is at the heart of these new compositions. In comparison to previous Big Easy outings, there is a deliberate embracing of quietness; from small moments of total silence, through hushed strumming, to barely contained simmering frustration. These glimpses between the notes draw the listener into an album that is alive. The attitude and emotions resonating in the spaces. At its heart, the album embodies Berthomieux’s experiences as a black man in a music scene dominated by whiteness, explores the increasing awareness of pain he has been silently carrying, and uncovers underlying mental health issues that he’d always thought were just “things that other people had”.On It’s No Secret, Berthomieux boldly asserts his identity whilst baring previously buried parts of his soul. In his own words, “It’s No Secret is like my journal... a place where I can express thethings that I haven’t been able to say out loud.”
Palamino
Over the past half-decade the Montclair, NJ, emo quartet Palamino’s sound has crystalized. When they burst onto the scene in 2019 with their self-titled LP, their sound was bright and jangly, and with each of their stopgap releases—EPs in 2020 and ‘22, a two-song single in ‘23—they’ve gotten harder to pigeonhole. Their music’s gotten darker, twistier, more atmospheric, but they still know their way around a hook, still know how to cut right to the heart of things. When they released their newest album, ‘A Simple Lesson in Human Body Language’ in January of 2024, it was a sign of how the new sound will form. A sign that it’s only the beginning.
‘A Simple Lesson’ is not just the sum of its parts or the sum of their past work; it’s an extension as much as a culmination. “Nothing happens to fit perfect quite like this,” goes one lyric towards the denouement of “Here Again,” and it feels true—A Simple Lesson in Human Body Language is the only album Palamino could’ve written right now, and it’s also one only Palamino could’ve written.

brooke
In a Brooklyn bedroom built on reinvention, Brooke is crafting alt-pop anthems that refuse to be defined.
Brooke got her start behind a drum kit, cutting her teeth in the local jazz and funk scene. But it wasn’t long before she outgrew simply keeping time—she had an instinct for breaking songs apart, reimagining sounds, and building something entirely her own. Inspired by sonic pioneers like Rick Rubin and Pharrell, she dove into self-production in high school, only to feel stifled by the rigid, binary spaces around her.
After a three-year hiatus spent redefining her sound, 2024 marked Brooke’s return. Her debut EP in early 2025 solidified that return, earning co-signs from rising stars like Masterpeace and Charlie Ziman, and putting her on the map as one of Gen Z’s most exciting new voices. Blurring the lines between alt-pop, indie, and something entirely new, Brooke is carving out space for sounds that defy genre expectations.Kellan Christopher Cragg
Kellan Christopher Cragg
At only 18, Kellan Christopher Cragg has already made up his mind on two things he can’t live without. A DAW and air.
While most 10 year olds were picking up a sport, or making a name for themselves as a self-declared bookworm, Kellan dove into pools of original music, starting to write full-fledged compositions on piano. Now, at 18, the pools have turned into oceans of introspective lyrics, electric production, and emotive songwriting that all flow out to Kellan’s alternative-river. Having just released his album, WRONG BALLOON, it's gotten championed by BBC6, SRF, ColorsxStudios, and Clash Magazine.

Drook
Drook's debut LP, The Pure Joy of Jumping, stands as a testament to the lofty ambitions of the Richmond, Virginia-based group and their ever-spinning wheelhouse of interests and tastes. Written up and down the east coast, in studios, bedrooms and coffee shops, the contents of Jumping are as traveled as the band itself. Conceived over a period of four years, this deeply personal coming-of-age record explores identity, interpersonal relationships, and the modern malaise of American life. Underscored by an earnest sense of humor and pointed self-evaluation, Jumping plays out over 11 songs driven by frenetic rhythms, blissed-out guitars, and colorful synth arrangements. It's an aggregation of self-expression with a limitless approach to form.
PFFU
“Some bands carve a niche; New Yorkers PFFU demolish the concept entirely. Their debut album, ghostass, doesn’t just blur genre boundaries—it sprints through them with reckless abandon, and we haven’t stopped listening since its release last week. From intricate walls of sound to unexpectedly danceable grooves, their music feels like a kaleidoscope of moods and ideas, pulled together by a shared love for the unpredictable… And small rodents. Whether it’s the nostalgia of holiday music or the raw energy of underground scenes, PFFU distills wildly different influences like shoegaze, bubblegum pop, grunge and educational, family-friendly folk music into something both fresh and utterly their own.” - Trev via GodIsInTheTV Blog

In 2024, Ultra Deluxe’s line up expanded further by adding Chris Canieso on drums. Ultra Deluxe’s music is a mixture of cybergrind, dance punk, post rock, screamo, classical and experimental electronic.
Ultra Deluxe is a political band first and foremost. Narotzky is an outspoken Marxist, high school history teacher and community organizer. Class inequality, gender inequity, imperialism, genocide, mental health struggles and environmentalism are among the topics discussed in Ultra Deluxe’s music. Since the release of their first LP, all of the band’s music has been told in the form of a sci-fi space opera. This ongoing saga references historical topics such as British Imperialism, The Vietnam War, Christopher Columbus’ invasion and genocide of the Americas as well as the modern genocides of Palestine, the Congo and Sudan
Ultra Deluxe’s live shows further showcase their political message. Their merch table features free leftist literature and free harm reduction supplies. Every single show sees Narotzky make a call to arms, a monologue on current events in the world and what we can do to fix them. Ultra Deluxe is on a mission, to put in plain view capitalism’s greatest atrocities, to bury the old world of inequality deep within the earth and dance upon its grave.

The Ophelias are a band inspired by nostalgia, nature, the Midwest, horror movies, and the moon. They formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2015 when Spencer Peppet (she/her) was a senior in high school. She recruited Mic Adams (he/him) on drums and Andrea Gutmann Fuentes (she/her) on violin, and Jo Shaffer (they/she) joined on bass a few years later. They released their first album Creature Native in 2015, recorded in a friend’s living room. They signed to Joyful Noise Recordings for their next albums: 2018’s Almost and 2021’s Crocus, which both received praise from The New York Times, Pitchfork, Stereogum, and other major outlets. In that time they collaborated with Julien Baker, played with bands like Indigo de Souza, Hand Habits, Mannequin Pussy, and comedian Cat Cohen, and played festivals like SXSW, Treefort, and Nelsonville. They recently signed with Get Better Records and are preparing to release new music. Archer Oh
(Moreno Valley, CA) - California indie garage rock band Archer Oh consists of Arturo “Archie” Medrano on vocals and guitar, Pedro Hernandez on drums, Diego Jacuinde on lead guitar, and Juan Cabrera on bass. Humbly beginning in the backyards of the Inland Empire in 2017, through their energetic live performances, DIY work ethic and goofy personalities, the group has amassed a cult following that in spite of the odds, increasingly platforms the band to new heights.
By 2022, Archer Oh had shared stages with Destroy Boys, Vundabar, Beach Goons, Six60, and Late Night Drive Home, embarked on two national tours supporting The Red Pears, and closed out the year with their first headline tour, including 3 consecutive sold out headline shows at The Paramount, Constellation Room, and The Glass House Pomona- where they sold all 800 tickets in celebration of Gradients - their first record together as a band. The following year solidified Archer Oh as a formidable touring machine, with the band playing 84 shows in 2023 - including The Channel Surfing Tour - their first full-length headline tour that included performances at Treefort Fest, Austin Psych Fest, Norman Music Festival, concluding with a headline show at The Belasco in LA, followed by two North American headline tours direct supporting Dogstar (Keanu Reeves) in mostly sold-out rooms of up to 5000 capacity, and a headline pacific northwest around Freakout Fest. More headline shows and another Dogstar tour followed the next year, and fans saw the band announce their biggest shows ever: a hometown return to Desert Daze Festival in Lake Perris, and a show with The Red Pears at LA’s The Shrine.
Archer Oh is set to release their debut studio album, The Internal Theater in February 2025 via AWAL/Sony. The record was engineered by Sean Cook at John Congleton’s LA studio “Animal Rites” and mastered by Howie Weinberg. Just like the years past, Archer Oh is ready to continue to win over even more people in 2025.

Me In Capris
Hailing from the only purple house in Roslindale, Massachusetts Me in Capris has carved out a unique place in Boston’s live music scene as an unmissable combination of pretty pop and rambunctious ruckus. With the release of their most recent single “Working Nights” the band proved a bit-o-pop sheen painted atop their usual punk ‘n roll made for a decent combo. Once described as “Like N’Sync if they were broke” - these boys are not to miss.
Wifey
Wifey is a Brooklyn power-pop band formed by Teddy Grey and Carly Kerr, two hot dorks who prove that the theater-kid to punk-rocker pipeline is still claiming innocent victims. After working together on an R-rated Garfield musical (don’t ask), the two bonded over a mutual love of bubblegrunge, emo, and DIY, and began crafting the catchiest songs ever written. They were soon joined in marriage by Mickey Blurr on lead guitar, and Chris Canieso on drums, and the rest is history. The honeymoon phase never has to end with Wifey, thanks to their earworm hooks, enticingly questionable lyrics, and lovely harmonies that could only come from the happiest of marriages. Matrimony never looked so good.
Debut EP “Just A Tease,” (alternate title: “Future Classics”) is the first taste of their ear-candy. Mixed and mastered by Billy Mannino (oso oso, Ben Quad, saturdays at your place), “Just A Tease” features five songs that will remain lodged in your head forever, whether you like it or not. In a scene revolving around confessional songwriting and baring your soul, Wifey has the decency to be tasteless, and are deep enough to be shallow. The hole for loud, dumb pop songs is wide open and Wifey is more than happy to fill it ;) With hooky tunes revolving around timeless subjects such as getting drunk, girls whose names end in Anne, and the addictive substance known only as “Candysauce,” Wifey is a power-pop band with real power. Influenced heavily by the melodic punks that came
before them (Lemonheads, Green Day, Joyce Manor) and embodying the “Don’t bore us, get to the chorus” ethos, Wifey’s songs are as exciting as a sugar rush, and only slightly less hazardous to your health.
Hell Beach
"Hell Beach is an infernal power pop / punk quartet hailing from Manchester NH with debut record "BEACHWORLD" streaming everywhere and available via Uncle Style Records."

Famous Mammals
"Famous Mammals were already going to be fantastic the moment they decided to form as a pandemic avocation in 2020, considering they’d been birthed from the flames of recent Oakland, CA scene-definers Rays, The World and Andy Human & The Reptoids. Yet when their wonderfully sharp & confounding self-titled tape came out in 2021, they were better than that, even. Their initial sound clicked along, searched and then found oblique treasure in a deep DIY post-punk void one might associate with 39 Clocks or the Swell Maps - sometimes aggressively sharp and pointed, other times given to captivating and off-centered murky quaalude meandering in all the ways you love." - Jay Hinman (Dynamite Hemorrhage)
The Spatulas
Instantly captivating debut LP by The Spatulas, an Oregon-based (now Cambridge, Mass) indie-rock outfit led by the insistent songwriting and voice of Miranda Soileau-Pratt. Honestly, I had to double take on this one, not immediately convinced this was a product of 2024. This is a good thing (no shade on 2024, but... yknow). Where else, then, might Beehive Mind have come from? I'd start by winding back 35 years or so, to Seattle or Boston or wherever Mary Lou Lord was laying a hat at that time, or down to San Francisco to see where Barbara Manning is at. Or cross the Pacific even, check in on The Bats or The Clean and the like. Which is to say there's a classic off-kilter beauty to what Soileau-Pratt is doing here, allying eyes-closed vocal bravery with killer lyricism that makes a dance of the interplay between anxiety, vulnerability and the absolute sense of self it takes to write music like this. And sorry I don't know the exact answer, but whoever it is playing lead is doing a mighty fine job, starting and then not stopping and never doing anything other than exactly what's needed. Other names come to mind, like Lois or Jenny Mae or even Jim Shephard, but none seem to stick absolutely, which is less a reflection of my inadequacies as a writer (thank god) and more a reflection of the inescapable truth: Soileau-Pratt is a real one. – World of Echo

Weedeater
Weedeater was born the mid-'90s, in Wilmington, NC, originally taking shape as a side project of vocalist/bassist "Dixie" Dave Collins, who was otherwise engaged with sludge metal cult favorites Buzzov*en at the time. However, upon that band's official demise in 1998, Collins was free to concentrate his efforts on Weedeater, which released two sludgecore albums to kick off the new millennium: 2001's And Justice for Y'All and 2002's Sixteen Tons, both produced by stoner specialist Billy Anderson. Collins later decided to tour briefly as bass player for Bongzilla and also found time to lend his four strings to Wilmington neighbors, Sourvein, but continued to work with Weedeater guitarist Shep and drummer Keko, touring relentlessly over the years, with the likes of C.O.C. and Alabama Thunderpussy. Busy as he was, Collins and co. finally got around to recording their third long-player, God Luck and Good Speed, which was release through Southern Lord in 2007. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
Bask
Categorizing musical style often acts as a shortcut. It allows us to quickly find what we think we’ll like and while defining a band by genre can be a positive for attracting new listeners, these barriers can also be limiting and may hinder our discovery of music that may inspire, embolden and provoke us. Sometimes categories need to be broken and those limiting genre demarcations need to be shattered so that new musical expressions can emerge without limits. North Carolina’s BASK is one of those special acts that transcend through even the most detailed categorizations in order to genuinely break new ground and take the listener on a journey of musical discovery that is acutely novel yet also warmly familiar.
Hailing from Carolina’s storied Blue Ridge Mountains, BASK was fully conceived in the fall of 2013 when guitarist Ray Worth, drummer Scott Middleton, bassist Jesse Van Note, and guitarist/vocalist Zeb Camp came together to produce sounds that were properly reflective of the lush yet rugged Appalachian habitat. The band’s newest record, ‘III,’ showcases a soulful juxtaposition of Americana rock ‘n’ roll with progressive and psychedelic elements, separating BASK from your average rock band from the South. Since forming in 2013, BASK has released two formidable and critically acclaimed full lengths: “American Hollow” (2014) and “Ramble Beyond” (2017). The band has toured North America and Europe with the grammy award-winning HIGH ON FIRE and WEEDEATER, as well as other contemporary genrechallenging acts like PALLBEARER, KAYO DOT, ROYAL THUNDER and BLACK TUSK. The Carolinians have also successfully shared bills with a range of diverse artists, from GUIDED BY VOICES to CARCASS and even REFUSED. They’ve been featured on festivals such as Desert Fest Berlin and London, New England’s RPM Fest, Speedfest in the Netherlands, and Heavy Mountain in Asheville, NC.
Each song on ‘III’ is inspired by legend, folklore, or mythology, reexamining characters and situations that are often misunderstood, overlooked or requiring deeper introspection. “III” fervently embraces the natural world, the cyclical nature of our human experience, and grapples with the some of the hardships of those events and happenings that make us who we really are.
BASK’s sound has been described as progressive and cinematic, containing glimpses of their native region’s unique tonality and heartfelt heaviness; something they unequivocally prove with ‘III.’ While expertly crafted songs like the incredibly catchy “New Dominion” and the rockin’ “Stone Eyed” present a heavier dynamic from the band, tracks like “Maiden Mother Crone” and “Rid of You” serve up a melancholy elegance that showcases the band’s roots, adding to the record’s vast yet cohesive dimensions. “Noble Daughters II-The Bow” combines heavy groove with accessible classic guitar rock sensibilities and dreamy sonicscapes. The diversity in the record is cognizant of the band’s wealth of influences and the songs are crafted so intriguingly that the listener is often eagerly awaiting what’s coming next.
“We just want to play heavy music from the heart.” Scott Middleton, Bask
From the warm vocals and melodically homespun guitars of the opener “Three White Feet”, ‘III’ is sure to take the listener on an emotional journey through its many peaks and valleys. The record is something you just must hear for yourself to truly grasp both the depths and practicable complexities of BASK. This is Americana. This is soul. And you simply haven’t heard this before.

Pretoria
Pretoria is a five-piece independent rock band founded in Grand Rapids, MI by high school friends Josh Bilisko, Rob Gullett, and Ben DeWitt in early 2018, releasing the now-archived Pretoria EP. The group briefly featured Evelyn Timmis as a guitarist and singer, ultimately parting ways later in 2019. Talented multi-instrumentalist Matt Burdick then joined as a guitar and synth player.
During these early days, the group released works such as "Lafayette Ave," the band's Capetown EP, and highly-praised, music-festival-winning single “Keep Two-Stepping.” Propelled by this success, Pretoria continued writing and releasing indie rock and pop oriented songs like "Gently," "Skinny Dip," and "Expert" - making all sorts of friends as well as a name for themselves in the Midwest.
Having weathered the effects of COVID-19, the band returned in full force in 2021 with the addition of Matt Pavlock on guitar. Together, over the next two years, the group would release a cover of "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young, Certainly, a two-sided single "I Blew It / Roller Derby," "Fat Chance," and their full-length debut album Where Will the Night Take Us?
With the 2024 on the horizon, the band began planning a move from Grand Rapids to Chicago, IL. They kept excitement flowing with new indie-pop flare singles Seven and Televisional, the latter of which was supported by friend and producer Jake Rye at Social Recording Company. They partnered with Sparta Distribution and bid farewell to Grand Rapids at longtime beloved venue The Pyramid Scheme and re-established in Chicago. The conclusion of 2024's liveshows was where Pretoria would bid loving farewells to Josh Bilisko and Matt Pavlock as they embarked in new careers. Together, the newly Chicago-based group would carry the torch, aiming for 2025 to be its biggest year yet.
Full of endearing personalities, Pretoria is exactly the sort of DIY music scene gem you want to catch live and meet after the show.
Social Cig
Born & brewed in Wisconsin, Social Cig is the 'Indie-Skate-Rock' music project of Parker Schultz. Consisting of contagious authenticity, cheery live shows, and cultivating an original story with an attitude of gratitude, Social Cig is creating full-circle moments. Leafing through global music scenes with an ambitious DIY approach and writing songs that capture a genuine outlook from a modern-day Midwest cowboy, Social Cig has become a well-rounded grassroots venture.
A Social Cig song sorts the ordinaries of boyhood; a lyrical short story woven together by playful strength and catchy grips in the feel-good realm of indie rock. Throughout a college degree, circa 2018, Parker shyly unveiled his defenseless GarageBand demos to his friends over hand-packed cigarettes on a Milwaukee duplex balcony. This collection of 12 hobby-songs unknowingly became his debut album, ‘Prettier in Person'. After waves of encouraging chats by supportive peers, Parker would migrate to a soggy practice space 3 floors below his bedroom (the basement) and create his live band with a rotating cast of friends, Social Cig.
Sketching a memoir and gardening an actively verdant fan base on & offline, Social Cig continues to expand its landscape by sharing the stage with acts such as Wet Leg, PREP, M.A.G.S., Noah Kahan, Lime Cordiale, Arlo Parks, Windser, Motherfolk, Kainalu, Dizzy, Miloe, Ax and the Hatchetmen, Landon Conrath, Motel Breakfast, Michael Cera Palin, and Lowertown.
